The Port as an Economic Driver of the City

Historically, Ports have been associated with cities’ development but, at the same time, the location of the port in the urban waterfront has also generated controversy and debate. Nowadays, the symbiosis between a Smart City and a Smart Port is clear. In this context, how can ports regain their role as drivers of urban economic growth and how can negative port impacts be mitigated? During this session, we will explore the vital link between Cities and Port, highlight their role as essential assets for the XXI century cities, due to their logistical, industrial, productive and environmental role and we will discover different innovation applications of technological solutions in the commercial, public and logistics sectors.
