Maimunah Sharif: the impact of Covid-19 in informal settlements

My list

The most vulnerable to disease are those living on the margins of our cities. Unplanned urban living leaves people vulnerable. The COVID-19 pandemic has exposed deep inequalities and demonstrated that tackling the virus is more challenging in urban areas, where access to quality healthcare is uneven, housing inadequate, water and sanitation lacking, transport infrastructure patchy and jobs precarious. Throughout this session with Maimunah Sharif, we will gain insights on different issues related to the need for shaping the future settlements more resilient and to guarantee adequate housing for all. We will seek answers to questions such as: what are the main urban challenges in the current context? How is it possible to realize an inclusive, affordable, and adequate housing for all? How can innovation help to improve people’s quality of life?
