SASKIA SASSEN: Urban Fragilities in a Post-pandemic World

My list

The situation generated by COVID-19 is reinforcing urban fragilities and inequalities, and it emphasises the need to help countries address the drivers of fragility in a holistic manner and for long-term engagement. In this context, experts from around the world are trying to visualise and comprehend the challenges that the world is facing during this global crisis. Throughout this session with Saskia Sassen, sociologist, writer and professor of sociology at the Robert S. Lynd Chair at Columbia University, we’ll seek answers to some questions related to the future of our cities and societies, such as: What has the coronavirus and the confinement experience taught us about the way cities and societies are built? How do we need to organize our cities from now on to face this new reality we live in? What are the biggest risks and impacts of this pandemic for the globalized world?
