Cutting-edge technologies like plastic-munching robots and floating drones are being deployed to clean beaches and waterways, effectively removing hazardous debris left by summertime visitors. These innovative solutions not only efficiently scour the areas they patrol but also draw public attention to the pressing issue of plastic waste, especially in oceans.

Despite their effectiveness, the high cost of these devices currently limits their widespread deployment. Recent experiments have seen these technologies used in cleaning efforts across locations such as the Great Lakes, Lake Tahoe, and select Florida beaches.
