EDINT (Data Spaces for Intelligent Urban Infrastructures) is a pioneering project led by the Spanish Federation of Municipalities and Provinces (FEMP) and funded by the Government of Spain. Its aim is to accelerate the digital transformation of municipalities by unlocking the potential of urban data as a driver of sustainability, efficiency, and collaboration.
At the core of EDINT are the Centers of Excellence and Data Offices (CEODs): local hubs where administrations, companies, universities, and citizens work together to collect, analyze, and apply shared data. These centers are designed to create tangible value for cities by turning data into actionable insights, improving public services, fostering local innovation, and strengthening community participation.
Twelve pioneering Spanish cities —including Madrid, Málaga, Valencia, Santander, and A Coruña— are already part of the EDINT network. Through real use cases in areas such as smart mobility, green urban management, and economic revitalization, the project demonstrates how data can generate practical solutions to the challenges of urban life.
At the Smart City Expo World Congress, EDINT will showcase how shared data can bridge innovation and governance, offering a replicable model for cities across Europe and beyond. Its vision: to turn information into knowledge, and knowledge into progress for urban communities.
